Why We Do Theater Night
Theater Night exists because our community’s support changes lives. Through the generosity of Art Park Players of Deer Park, one main-stage performance each year becomes an opportunity to support men on their journey to recovery at The Wheelhouse.
Guests share a catered Italian dinner, hear how their support is making a difference, and enjoy a professionally produced show by local artists. It’s an evening filled with laughter, music, and purpose, all while helping men recover from addiction to drugs and alcohol.
This year, we’re thrilled to feature the high-energy, crowd-favorite musical Hairspray.

About the Show: Hairspray
Hairspray is a world-famous American musical with music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Wittman, and a book by Mark O’Donnell and Thomas Meehan, based on the 1988 film by John Waters.
Set in 1962 Baltimore, the story follows teenage Tracy Turnblad as she pursues her dream of dancing on The Corny Collins Show. When Tracy unexpectedly becomes a local celebrity, she uses her platform to challenge social norms and advocate for inclusion, acceptance, and positive change.
